Worse Is Better: Git And Its Ecosystem
In April 2005, Linus Torvalds gave us a thousand lines of C code sprinkled with TODOs and comments about design decisions. This code was meant to be the basis of an “information manager” to help him develop the Linux kernel. Fifteen years later, Git is the dominant version control system in use and has spawned an entire ecosystem of software around it. We’ll look back at how we got to where we are from these humble beginnings, and where Git and its ecosystem are going.
