Roy Vanegas is a software engineer and educator who began working with the Internet in 1996. As a software engineer, Roy worked in academia and the private sector (Columbia University; IBM). However, the bulk of his experience is as an educator, having taught programming and design at schools such as Columbia University, NYU, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Hunter College, and The University of Hartford.

Roy advocates for animals, farm workers, the environment, and, an open source world. He rarely use social media.

By re-contextualizing Git’s branching model in the classroom, educators can share examples and assignments with learners in an easier manner, while also simplifying the assignment submission protocol for students.
